My little girl and her momma...

How could you resist a face like this...?

So...it's been awhile. Things have been busy here. Between work, Ryan's hunting and playing with Makayla it seems like we dont have a whole lot of free time. Ryan and his buddy Briggs went hunting on Friday and got an elk, but spent 8 hours dragging the big animal back to the truck...he thinks he needs to get a four wheeler and keeps telling me how great it would be and how often we'd use it when in reality he'd use it a handful of times a year on hunting trips. I think there are better things we can do with our money.

This weekend we had our first date since the baby was born and it was much needed. I've become obsessed with the Twilight series, so I found a babysitter (thanks Angie!) and we went to lunch and the movie. Ryan was one of the maybe 10 guys in the theater and he actually liked it unless you're a guy and ask him...then he'll say "it was ok"

And then there is Makayla...lets see, her new things...well she's only getting up once a night now which is really nice for me. She's also started giggling. She's also starting to play with more than her hands, however they still seem to be her favorite toy, she looks at them like she cant figure out what they are or why they follow her around everywhere.

New Trick...

So after 2 weeks of teaching Makayla how to roll, she started doing it all on her own today, rolling from her belly to her back. We couldn't have been more excited! Her poor little head makes a loud thud everytime, but she doesnt seem to care. We'll have to work on going from her back to her belly now.

BIRTHDAY GIRL!!!

I'm 2 months old today!!!

For Makayla's birthday we went to the doctor and got shots. The shots definitly weren't what she wanted for her birthday, but she got through them. They also did her well baby exam and here are her stats:

2 Months / Birth

Weight: 9lb 14 ounces (26%) / 7lb 5 ounces (40%)

Height: 23 3/4 inches (93%) / 20.5 inches (80%)

Head Circ: 15 1/8 inches (51% ) / 13 3/4 inches (47%)

She's been practicing her smiles and is getting really good at them. She's also cooing up a storm, the sounds this girl makes are so cute, you cant help laughing at her. She's also started playing with her binkie and is figuring out how to pull it out and put it back in (as long as it's close to her mouth she can put it back in) It's so much fun to sit and play with her. I cant wait to see what her next trick will be.

Vacation

Makayla went on her first vacation. Ryan headed off to Colorado for a big elk hunt and I really didnt want to stay home alone for a week, so we went home to Pennsylvania to see grandma and grandpa. It was perfect timing with the fall folliage at it's peak and the weather was perfect (we missed the snow storm that came through Rexburg). Crazy how you can live somewhere for so long but it takes a trip years later to completely realize the beauty that was always around you. It was Makayla's first plane ride and she even got her wings and a certificate stating her first flight and what kind of plane she was on. It really was pretty cute. She did great on the plane, I was so worried she was going to be the screaming baby everyone was frustrated with, but she slept instead.
We went elk "hunting" at the Elk reserve and I think we ended up seeing more elk than the hunters saw in Colorado. We saw 18 elk, 28 white tail deer and a zillion squirrels, not counting the 3 deer that we saw at the house.
All that elk hunting wore Makayla out!!!
She had so much fun playing with grandma and grandpa, even though grandpa didnt want to be left alone with her. I think he was really afraid he might have to change her diaper...
3 generations, too bad we didnt have Mimi in the photo, it really would have been neat to have a 4 generation picture.
It was a great vacation and was fun seeing everyone. I think it should be tradition, when Ryan goes hunting, we go to PA and play...

Changes

I cant believe our baby girl is almost 1 month old, we've loved every minute of having her with us. It's seems like every day she changes. At her 2 week appointment she was 21.5 inches long, and 8 pounds 3 ounces...so she's growing like a weed. She's becoming more and more alive and it's fun to sit and watch her...it's amazing how you never get tired of watching her and will realize the entire day is gone and you havent done a thing.

Obviously one of her favorite things to do is sleep, it doesnt matter where she is or what's going on around her....

This pictures cracks us up...that smile is all Ryan...too bad it was probably just gas.

We blessed Makayla on August 30th. Grandma Brusman made her dress and Grandma Goodman got her the sweet little bracelet. She was passed around and fussed over all day and slept through the whole thing. Just goes to show, it's exhausting being so cute. What you cant see is her pink little toenails...even 2 week olds can have their toes done :)

Baby Makayla

Well she finally made it, Makayla Marie arrived Sunday August 17, 2008 weighing in at 7 pounds 5 ounces and 20.5 inches long. It was a rough delivery for her, having suction fail repeatedly, and forceps finally getting her here, but she was worth every bit of it. I just hope she feels the same about us. The only things it seems she got from me are my chin and ears, she's definitely daddy's little girl, no doubt about that. Grandma and Grandpa Brusman came in on Friday to see baby Makayla and it's been fun having the whole family together. We're hoping Grandma and Grandpa Goodman can come soon. It's really fun to watch how little Addi is taking to her cousin, she wants to play with her so badly.

Well...I guess it's about time we joined the world of blogging. The last few weeks have been pretty busy for us, we bought a new house, moved, got the townhouse ready for renting and now are not so patiently awaiting the arrival of our baby in the next 8 days. Hard to believe everything came together so smoothly...
